Inaugural Gala with Nachito Herrera and Bobby Carcasés marked the start of Jazz Plaza

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 19 (ACN) The presentations of Cuban musician Ignacio "Nachito" Herrera", who lives in the United States, and maestro Bobby Carcasés, officially opened the 37th edition of the International Jazz Plaza Festival in Havana at Teatro Nacional de Cuba.

The evening began with Nachito Herrera saying that he was proud and pleased to be with such a large audience and personalities he admires, including one he considers his idol and whom he affectionately calls "Uncle", maestro César "Pupy" Pedroso, and someone who, he stressed, defends what he has defended all his life, that there is only one music, namely maestro Frank Fernández.

Accompanied by the Habana Jazz Orchestra, he performed songs such as Stella By Startlight, Poupurrit de Cha Cha Chá, Guaguanco Para Chano and West Side Latin Jazz before he handed over the stage to maestro Bobby Carcasés—whom he described as “the star of the evening”—and his show Del Blues a la Timba - De la Timba al Jazz.

Zule Guerra, César López and Orlando Valle (Maraca) were among the guests who shared the stage with Carcasés, founder of the Festival.
The 37th edition of the International Jazz Plaza Festival will finish on Sunday, January 23.
