HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 7 (acn) Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez will offer a free concert on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the city of Bani and the opening of the Peravia 2014 Regional Book Fair, informed the Culture Ministry of the Dominican Republic.
The concert has been scheduled for October 25 at the Luis Maria Herrera Stadium of Bani, and will be preceded by the performance of Dominican star singer Maridalia Hernandez.
The press release explains that Silvio will make this presentation in Bani because it's the city where Maximo Gomez, general in chief of the Cuban troops in the 1895 War, was born.
It adds that this concert of gratitude towards Gomez and Bani will mark the beginning of the 10th edition of the Peravia Regional Book Fair, dedicated to journalist Rafael Herrera, a notable citizen of that city, who was the director of Listin Diario newspaper for decades.
