HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 2 (acn) The 2nd Festival of Central American Cinema, Icaro, will bring to this capital some of the best movies of countries like Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Costa Rica, films that will be screened at the Infanta Multiscreen Cinema and the Cuban Art Factory starting from Thursday and until Wednesday, October 8.
The coordinator of this cycle in Cuba, Daniela Sagone, told the press that the selection includes 25 titles nominated to or winners of the 16th International Film Festival in Central America, Icaro, held in Guatemala –feature films, shorts, animation films and experimental works of the region and other territories, among which Justicia para mi hermana (2012), by Kimberly Bautista, excels, a film tackling the struggle for women's rights, which will inaugurate this second edition of the meeting.
Also screened will be La revolucion de los alcatraces (2012), by Mexican Luciana Kaplan, Escenas previas (2012), by Alexandra Maciuszek; and Lih Wina (2012), by Nicaraguan Dania Torres, among others.
Sponsored by the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) and embassies of Central American nations, this traveling exhibition takes place every year from August to October.
Usually, the festival tours nations like Panama and Puerto Rico, along with the U.S. cities of Miami and New York to promote the cinematographic work of this territory and multiculturality.
