HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 24 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, sent on Wednesday a letter of acknowledgement to the members of Cuba's Contemporary Dance Ensemble (DCC), a company marking on Thursday the 55th anniversary of its founding by maestro Ramiro Guerra.
In the letter, Raul refers to the period when the group was created in 1959 and how through a long career it stands out in the most important events of its specialty and has represented the Caribbean island in dozens of tours of Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.
The company, adds the letter, has created an innovative dance language in the roots identifying its people and is part of the avant-garde of Cuban revolutionary culture.
Culture Minister Julian Gonzalez handed over the letter to DCC director Miguel Iglesias, who expressed his gratitude for such high honor and announced the plan of the company's national and international tours.
