HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 6 (acn) The Russian Spirin duo won the Grand Prize of the 13th Summer Circus International Festival, Circuba 2014, after the presentation of its act Shadows, which was full of control, strength and balance.
Julian Gonzalez Toledo, Cuban Minister of Culture, granted them the most significant laurel of contest, which is to date considered one of the most important in the Americas.
Similarly, one of the protagonists of this pair, the young Vyacheslav Spirin, belonging to Rosgoscirck Russian Circus, was recognized for his outstanding scenic performance.
The gold, silver and bronze stars went to several acts by Havana Company, group that highlighted by the freshness of its artists and the complexity of their performances with the scale, the Russian bar and the flying trapeze.
Also the cheered act of Run or German wheel, only seen at the opening night starring Canadian Francis Perreault, finished second sharing the prize with the Cuban group, which was also the most popular of the event.
The also Russians Maxim Helmut with his risky domain of aerial rope and Sychev infant duet were included in the list of prizes obtained by the world's largest circus, by winning the awards in image and revelation, respectively.
Similarly, in the closing ceremony of Circuba 2014, artists from Argentina, Mexico, Spain and Germany got special mentions and awards from various institutions and personalities of circus art.
Finally, it was announced that Havana Company will represent Cuba in the 8th Albacete International Circus Festival, Spain, in 2015.
