Cuban Minister of Culture holds meeting with UNESCO Director GeneralHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (acn) Alpidio Alonso, Cuban Minister of Culture, held a meeting at UNESCO headquarters today with Audrey Azoulay, Director General of that entity, who positively valued Cuba's work in the areas of education, science and culture.

Azoulay expressed expectations for her trip to Havana next December and thanked Alonso for his participation in the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference and in particular, in the Forum of Ministers of Culture, reports Prensa Latina from the French capital.
For his part, Alonso reiterated Cuba's commitment to the multilateral entity and gave her examples on the impact that the US economic, commercial and financial blockade has on the cultural sector.
He also shared the vision of the Caribbean island that without access to culture there can be no inclusive development.
The Cuban executive also gave Azoulay an image of Havana, city that has just commemorated the 500th anniversary of its foundation.
At the meeting, Alonso was accompanied by the Cuban delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador Dulce Buergo, while the hostess was accompanied by Ernesto Ottone, UNESCO Assistant-Director General for Culture, among other officials.
