The under secretary general of Syria´s Baath Arab Socialist Party, Hilal al-Hilal is arriving in Cuba on Monday to reaffirm bilateral relations of friendship and solidarity.

Cuba and the United States will soon continue bilateral talks at a technical level particularly on health and law enforcement, Foreign Ministry official Josefina Vidal announced in Washington at the end of the third round of negotiations to reestablish diplomatic relations.

The two grandsons of US writer Ernest Hemingway, John and Patrick, said in Havana that they are happy with the new stage of relations between Cuba and their country.

Cuba and the United States agreed in Washington to continue holding exchanges on issues concerning the work of diplomatic missions, said Josefina Vidal, director general of the United States Office of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

"We have made progress in negotiations," said Yuri Gala, Director of Bilateral Affairs of the United States Department of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, while informing that the third round of talks would continue on Friday.

The founding father of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, received Nexy Veliz, president of the Jose Marti Pioneer Children Organization (OPJM), and Jesus Mora, Cuban representative to the World Federation of Democratic Youth (FMJD), the Juventud Rebelde newspaper reported.

With their sights set on the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, representatives of the governments of Cuba and the United States will meet in Washington on Thursday, May 21, in the third round of talks between the two countries.

Cuban President Raul Castro congratulated the delegates to the 11th Congress of the National Small Farmers Association, which wound up on Sunday May 17, National Farmer Day in Cuba.
