U.S. Experts to Attend Information and Communication Meeting in CubaHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (acn) The 8th International Meeting of Information and Communication Researchers and Scholars (ICOM 2015), which will be held in Havana on December 7-11 to discuss the media information generated in the South, will be attended by 200 specialists from 20 nations.

Raul Garces, dean of the School of Communication of the University of Havana, the center organizing the meeting since 1996, highlighted the high number of participants in this edition of the meeting, which will welcome about 20 of the most prominent communication experts in the world.
The dean underlined that on this occasion representatives of six U.S. universities will take part in the forum, among them some as prestigious as that of Columbia and the Annenberg School of Communication, which is leading the International Communication Association, an entity with which Cuba could establish useful links.
Garces added that the United States will actually bring few speakers but that several participants of that nation will attend the meeting, which represents an opportunity for them not only to exchange ideas with 200 academicians from the island, but also to listen to the diversity of criteria of delegates coming from Europe, Asia and Latin America, the region most represented.
ICOM 2015 will take place at the capital's Convention Center, parallel to the 9th International Congress of the Latin Union of Political Economy of Information, Communication and Culture (ULEPICC), an association that this year chose Cuba as the venue for its exchanges.
