SANTA CLARA, Cuba, August 10 (ACN) The oncohematology ward of the José Luis Miranda Pediatric Hospital in the city of Villa Clara received a valuable donation worth thousands of dollars of basic medical and other supplies from Project Hatuey, a solidarity initiative sponsored by friends of Cuba in the United States.
The delivery took place after a meeting at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples in Havana, where Hatuey coordinator Gloria La Riva stated that the US blockade of the island is an act of economic warfare against the Cuban people.
Ms. La Riva remarked that these actions prove that solidarity can overcome the barriers imposed by politics with this fifth donation brought by the project to alleviate the impact of the said US Cuba policy and reasserted Hatuey’s commitment to these efforts in solidarity.
Upon receiving the donation, hospital director Oscar Armando Fernández Alegrer expressed his deep gratitude on behalf of the entire staff, the patients, and their families.
Since May, Villa Clara's health centers have received significant donations from solidarity groups and associations from more than 20 countries which have made a major impact on the local medical services.
