Havana, Cuba, August 15 (ACN) Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban Prime Minister, reaffirmed today his country's willingness to continue strengthening relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The Prime Minister spoke virtually Friday at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, representing Cuba, which has been one of the regional bloc's Observer States since 2020.
In reporting on X about his participation in the event, held in the Kyrgyz Republic, Marrero Cruz praised the EAEU as a model for cooperation, using the hashtag #CubaNoEstáSola (Cuba IsNotAlone).
In his speech, he highlighted the potential for collaboration within the framework of the Union, which opens concrete opportunities to structure sustainable value chains, promote innovation with technological sovereignty, and advance logistics routes that connect people in a more fair and direct manner.
He recalled the recent visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to Minsk (Belarus) for the Supreme Council of the Union, where he reiterated Cuba's intention to deepen ties with the bloc and held discussions with the main authorities of the member countries.
Marrero Cruz proposed encouraging joint cooperation to develop industrial capacity in Cuba, which would allow for the processing, production, and subsequent distribution to countries in the region of higher value-added products using raw materials from EAEU members.
According to the Cuban PM, the areas with the greatest opportunities are the metallurgical and chemical industries, fertilizers, food production, transportation, energy, health, and biotechnology.
He emphasized that Cuba is committed to economic integration guided by the political will for cooperation, equity, and complementarity between our countries.
He also reiterated his gratitude to the members of the Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia) for their call to lift the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba and for demanding that their country be removed from the list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
