HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 19 (ACN) The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, will make an official visit to Cuba from Friday, July 19.
The distinguished visitor will hold meetings with Cuban authorities and will carry out other activities, informed the cubaminrex website.
Located in West Africa, this is the smallest country on the continent, with only 11,295 square kilometers of territory and 1,825,000 inhabitants.
Recently, on May 19, Cuba and Gambia celebrated 40 years of establishing diplomatic relations, based on mutual respect, South/South cooperation, and the cultural roots that identify them.
For more than two decades, the Caribbean country has maintained a medical brigade in The Gambia, currently made up of more than 100 physicians, medical professors and health care personnel.
Bilateral cooperation also covers the agricultural sector.
This African nation has maintained a position against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States against Cuba.
