HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 16 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla highlighted the value of the dignity of several small Caribbean nations in the face of U.S. expansionism expressed in the Monroe Doctrine and the surrender of the countries of the Lima Group.
"Chancelleries of the so-called Group of Lima chorus Secretary of State Pompeo over the alleged negative influence of #Cuba on #Venezuela after being treated like a "backyard" during their South American tour.
Caribbean delegations did not sign. Dignity vs. Monroe Doctrine," the head of Cuban diplomacy said in a message on Twitter.
This group of 14 countries held its twelfth meeting in Santiago de Chile on Monday, in which they continued with the interfering and interventionist actions promoted by the Trump administration to overthrow the legitimate Bolivarian government of Nicolás Maduro.
A 17-point declaration was signed by representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Peru and the outlawed National Assembly of Venezuela, after an express tour of several South American countries by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The text proposed to other nations and institutions to join their efforts to overthrow the authorities of the South American country, describes the Bolivarian government as a "threat to international peace and security, with regional and global effects", and intends to hold it responsible for the current internal situation of Venezuela.
