HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 24 (acn) At seven o'clock in the morning, thousands of electoral colleges opened their doors for the Cubans to countersign the new Magna Carta after an extensive process of collective construction that began almost a year ago.
After singing the National Anthem and showing those present that the ballot boxes are empty, citizens flock to the colleges to vote for a text that introduces important changes aimed at adapting to the new realities of the country.
According to ACN, people formed in lines early in the morning. That early vote and the fact that pioneers guard the ballot boxes have become a democratic tradition on the Caribbean island.
The new Law that is submitted to a referendum was approved last December by the National Assembly of People's Power and in it Cuba is recognized as a socialist democracy, in addition to validating private property as a supplementary economic actor.
