HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 22 (acn) Cubans Arlenis Sierra and Heidy Praderas will compete, along with four other teammates, in the Towards Zero Race Melbourne, in Australia, as part of their squad the Astana Women's Team.
Sierra, 26, captains for the second year the Kazakh-Italian club, which this year also hired Pradera, who is only 20.
The competition will take place next Thursday and, on Saturday, they will also attend the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.
The first of these races covers 12 laps in a circuit of 5.3 kilometers (km), for a total of 63.6 km, with average speed of 39 km/h.
It will be held in a Formula One (F1) track where the overall winner will be the team who has accumulated the most points across the intermediate sprints, as well as the final sprint into the finish and there will also be a sprint champion crowned for the highest point scoring individual rider.
On the other hand, the women´s route of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, which is an UCI 1.1 event, will be a single-day tour that covers 113 km all over roads and mountains.
The Astana Women's Team, which owns the highest category in the International Cycling Union (UCI by its French acronym), previously attended in Australia, on January 13th, the Santos Tour Down Under where Sierra ranked 24th in the individual classification.
