HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 7 (ACN) The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has distinguished the Historian of the City of Havana Eusebio Leal Spengler as Honorary Associate.

Magda Resik, Communications Director of the Office of the Historian of Havana, informed that the designation that will receive the honoree in February 2019, rewards the contributions of people who have magnified architecture in its broadest sense: its promotion, administration and scope.

Honorary Associates such as Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler stand out for their role in creating more sustainable communities, for being involved in their promotion and urban management and nurturing the interests of future generations. The honorees, according to RIBA, have helped to improve the quality of architectural design and influence the delivery of built environment in a creative way.

This honorary status is awarded annually to individuals who have made a particular contribution to architecture, the note states.

The RIBA Honours Committee that selected the 2019 winners was led by the chairman of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Ben Derbyshire.

RIBA is a professional organization of UK architects, based in London. It was founded in 1834 and has more than 44,000 members.
