HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 23 (ACN) General Customs of the Republic (AGR) denounced attempts to introduce drugs into the country, and its seizing of 63 kilograms in the period from January to October of this year.
More than one kilogram corresponded to synthetic cannabis, artificial chemical compounds, and the rest to cocaine, informed Moraima Rodríguez Nuviola, Director of Confrontation of the institution, in a meeting with Cuban journalists.

Rodríguez Nuviola warned about the persistence of incidents at six border points, the diversification of the origins and routes used, as well as the increase in the number of women who ingest the drug or adhere it to their bodies, as assisted methods of concealment.
She mentioned the influence in these cases of the increasing trend of travellers, operations and the carrying of drugs, the growth of imports by non-commercial areas, of interconnectivity, as well as the promotion of subversive and enemy activity.
She warned about the fact that attempts continue to introduce regulated means that affect the safety of people and technology to supply counterrevolutionary groups and for the establishment of illegal communication networks.
In order to counteract its impact, it announced the acquisition of new technologies of greater detection capabilities that speed up customs inspection processes, and the installation of 69 means at the border, among other equipment.

Similarly, participation in operations convened by the World Customs Organization, in coordination with other agencies, including the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the Memorandum of Understanding for Cuba-China training.
