HAVANA, Cuba, April 26 (ACN) The Cuban consulate officers in Washington D.C. held a meeting last weekend with nearly 50 travel agents and charter companies on the Cuban migration policy, the Cuban embassy in Washington reported.
The Cuban consulate offered detailed information on new regulations adopted as part of the process to update the Cuban migration policy as well as requirements to increase efficiency and improve attention to clients.
Representatives of attending companies acknowledged the efforts of the Consular Section at the Cuban embassy in D.C. to keep the services going at an acceptable level, despite the reduction of personnel imposed by the Trump administration last October.
US-Cuba relations have undergone a setback following measures by the Trump administration to revert the advance achieved with the reestablishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in December 2014, when both governments agreed to kick of a process towards the reestablishment of full relations.
Last December, the US State Department decided to withdraw more than half of its diplomatic personnel at the American embassy in Havana under the pretext of health incidents that have not been corroborated.
Such measure was followed by the expulsion of 17 Cuban diplomats from Washington D.C. including officers with the Consular office in that country.
