HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 15 (ACN) Namibia's Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila placed on Thursday in Havana a floral wreath before the Pantheon of the Internationalist Combatants in Colon Cemetery in honor of the Cubans that gave their lives for the liberation of African nations.
The Namibian Head of State who is currently on an official visit to Havana, affirmed that the martyrs, with their courage and sacrifice helped write a chapter in history of friendship between Cuba and the African continent.
Cuba's contribution in the fight against apartheid in Africa and Namibia in particular is immeasurable, she said, and recognized the leadership of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
She pointed out that the relations between both countries were consolidated after battles like Cangamba and assured that the sacrifice was not and will never be in vein.
The Prime Minister of Namibia highlighted bilateral cooperation ties and reiterated its condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US against Cuba.
Brigade General Delsa Esther Puebla (Tete), Vice President of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, expressed that present and future historic ties unites both countries and recalled the feats carried out in African lands with the only objective of helping its liberation.
She thanked the reiterated solidarity gesture with the island and ratified the commitment in not forgetting that epic.
Cuba and Namibia established diplomatic relations on March 21st , 1990 and there are currently 111 Cuban professionals in that African nation of them 88 linked to the health sector.
