HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 1 (acn) Cuba and Turkey coincide in broadening their comercial ties and increase business that will contribute in bilateral exchanges in economy, culture and biotechnology.
During the opening of Turkey’s pabellion at Expocuba exhibition center, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ileana Nunez expressed that the island is willing to carry out joint businesses in oil, energy, food and sugar, agriculture, health and tourism industries.
She added that such interests will be defined at the 3rd Cuba-Turkey Technical meeting scheduled for December in Havana.
The Cuban government official highlighted that the island’s Heberprot P medication, only of its type in the world for the treatment of ulcers in diabetic feet, has been commercialized in that country since 2011.
Nunez also expressed that in recent years of bilateral relations, advances in the sectors of culture and sports have been highlighted with the presentation of Cuban artists in events in Ankara and scholarships to study the Turkish language.
The Vice Minister said that Turkish Airlines began flights to Cuba in December of 2016 with three flights a week and the possibility of increasing them to once a day.
Turkish ambassador to Cuba, Berris Ekinci told ACN his government’s interest in strengthening the goodwill and cooperation ties in different strategic areas.
He affirmed that Cuba offers many advantages through the Mariel Special Development Zone to carry out business and pointed out that his country has a program directed to the Latin American market.
The trade fair will run until Friday with the participation of some three thousand 400-business executives from over 70 countries.
