CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Sep 13 (acn) After recovering from damage caused by hurricane Irma, Ignacio Agramonte International Airport, in the city of Camagüey, is ready since Tuesday to operate domestic and international flights, said Luis Quiñones, acting director of the facility.
The airport suffered severe damage on roofs and windows, said the official, who added they started recovery actions with their own resources, without waiting for the support of additional forces.
Quiñones, also staff member of the Cuban east-central airport zone, told ACN that the airport of Las Tunas province is already operating at full capacity, while the one in Santa Lucia resort will start providing service in the coming days.
As it was already reported, at noon on Tuesday, national and international air operations were reestablished at the José Martí International Airport, in Havana, and the same happened by night at Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport, in Varadero Beach.
Hurricane Irma left behind in northern Cuba a trail of destruction that is still being quantified by the authorities, who are now focused on sanitation and recovery works.
