HAVANA, Cuba, May 29 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, visited the archaeological site of Samaipata on the fourth day of his official visit to Bolivia.
Díaz-Canel was interested in knowing not only this jewel of pre-Inca culture, but also visited the homonymous locality, mentioned in the diary of the Heroic Guerrilla, Ernesto Che Guevara, Prensa Latina reported.
The high official noted how the people of Samaipata remember the passage of the Argentine-Cuban revolutionary and his guerrilla through that territory.
Last Thursday, the First Vice President kicked off an official visit to Bolivia with the purpose of strengthening ties of brotherhood and solidarity between both countries and pay tribute to Che and his fellow guerrillas on the 50th anniversary of his fall in combat.
As part of the program, a tour of La Higuera was planned; however, bad weather did not allow the Cuban delegation to reach the place.
On Tuesday he paid tribute to Che on a tour of historic sites in Vallegrande that recall the presence of the revolutionary leader in Bolivian territory.
Together with the delegation accompanying him, he visited the Trench of the Guerrillas, where the remains of Tamara Bunke (Tania), the only woman in the guerrilla group, and another group of combatants, were found.
