Havana, Cuba, May 5 (acn) Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa exchanged on Friday in Havana with students at the University of Havana (UH) and urged them to continue the process of Latin American and Caribbean integration.
Regarding the economy of the region, he stressed to continue strengthening the Bank of the South, strategies for unity, mechanisms aimed at eradicating tax evasion from great transnationals and destabilization actions from the extreme right.
The Ecuadoran Head of State expressed, at the Master Lecture Hall of the University of Havana, admiration over the profound questions of the Cuban students and affirmed that "the main resource of a country is education and human talent".
Correa commented that unfortunately, there are groups that defend neoliberal globalization and there are factors that restrains Latin American integration and gave Brazil and Argentina as examples.
However, he transmitted his optimism in the unity of the peoples of the region and urged the new generations to "recover the lost spaces", because it is a task for the youth.
In statements to ACN, Juan Carlos Imbert, representative of the Young Communist League (UJC) of the University highlighted the words of the Ecuadoran President and the commitment of the youth to continue the work of the Revolutions in Latin America.
The distinguished visitor, on an official visit to Cuba received the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Economic Sciences from the University of Havana during an activity headed by the First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
After the ceremony, Correa toured the campus with the Cuban First Vice President and Rector of the university Gustavo Cobreiro.
