HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 8 (ACN) Members of the Colombian Solidarity Movement paid tribute on Tuesday to the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro at the monument where his remains lays to rest at the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery.
One of the solidarity activist Gilda Gomez told ACN, that she is grateful for the Cuban leader's support in Colombia's peace process and Cuba's role in the almost four-year-old dialog held in Havana between the Colombian government and the rebel forces.
Gomez highlighted the political, ethical and human dimensions of Fidel and characterized his legacy as hope for the poor peoples of the world.
Journalist Julio Roberto Bermudez commented that the tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution has been one of the most significant moments of his life and strongly admires the political and social project defended by Cuba for the last 58 years led by Fidel.
"My visit to Fidel's tomb is like a Muslim visiting the Mecca, it is a desire that has been accomplished and I say, Thank you, Fidel!, because without his help we would not been able to achieve peace in my country", said Bermudez, member of the Colombian Economic Journalists Association.
The group, also made up by representatives of the Vamos por los derechos that had an outstanding participating in support of the Colombian peace process also visited the Mausoleum that holds the remains of Cuba's National Hero Jose Marti.
These visitors are also part of the over 100 thousand people, of these 41 thousand foreigners that have visited since December 4th the stone Monument that holds the remains of Fidel Castro since his passing away last November 25th.
