HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 2 (acn) Alfonso Dastis Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, attended the Cuban embassy in that country to sign the condolence book for the death of the historic leader Fidel Castro, Prensa Latina news agency reported.
Dastis was received by Eugenio Martinez, ambassador of Havana in Madrid, who thanked him the gesture of appearing at the Caribbean legation.
I wish to express my deepest sorrow for the death of Fidel Castro, a figure of great historical depth and deep ties with Spain, the chancellor wrote in the book of condolences.
José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Miguel Angel Moratinos, Spain´s former president and chancellor respectively, also attend the diplomatic headquarters of the Caribbean island with the purpose of honoring the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
Since last Monday, hundreds of people have uninterruptedly visited this facility to pay tribute to the statesman, who died last Friday, November 25th.
Politicians, intellectuals, trade unionists, diplomats and citizens of different nationalities attended during these four days the embassy of Cuba in Spain to express their last farewell to the legendary revolutionary man.
