HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 24 (acn) A large delegation of the Ministry of Health of the Philippines is on a visit to Cuba since Tuesday, with the aim of holding exchanges with authorities of this sector and discussing issues of bilateral interest.
During its stay in Cuba, the delegation of the Philippines will meet with Dr. Roberto Morales, Public Health Minister.
Led by Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial, Secretary of Health of the Philippines, the group, composed of other experts of that entity and of the World Health Organization, will also visit health assistance and human resource training institutions.
On Wednesday they will visit the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital and the 19 de Abril Polyclinic, where they will receive an explanation of Family Doctor and Nurse Program, an initiative of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro implemented since January 1984.
Also, the foreign specialists will know more about Cuba's experience in health promotion and visit the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, where they will receive an explanation of the Hypertension Program.
On Thursday they will visit the Latin American Medical School, an institution that in its 12 graduations has trained more than 27,000 doctors from various countries, and there they will be given details on the training programs and meet with students.
Tomorrow's agenda also includes the Central Unit of Medical Cooperation, where they will receive information related to the preparation and response to emergencies, and tour the Cooperation Museum.
