HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 21 (acn) A group of 15 Cuban technicians received a three-month intensive training to learn about the new technologies installed in the Cuban biggest steel plant, Antillana de Acero, in Havana.
Rosana Cintra Lopez, head of Human Resources, described as very fruitful the training in Russia that will enable the personnel to share their new acquired knowledge with their co-workers.
The group took theoretical classes for two months at the Magnitogorsk State Technical University, and then trained at a steel plant in that Russian city. There they learnt more about metallurgy, electricity and mechanics, and worked with a simulator of continuous casting.
Thanks to a line of credit approved by the Russian Council of Ministers of 100 million US dollars, the biggest Cuban steel plant is undertaking a major updating in all its equipments.
The works also includes an overhaul of the 220 volt power plant to guarantee constant production in the facility
