HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 7 (acn) Latin American and Caribbean women with special needs will participate in the 1st Regional Seminar-Workshop of Women Leaders with Special Needs to kick off on Wednesday in Havana.
The event will run until Friday at Havana's Convention Center and will contribute in facilitating the tools to empower and support the development of equality and equity of women with special needs, reported the organizing committee.
Osvaldo Hidalgo Dominguez, Vice President of the Cuban Association of Handicapped People explained that the issues will be equity and gender, rights recognized in the national and international context from realities of the organizations and violence against women with special needs as double discrimination.
The discussions will also include women leaders, women with special needs and family, their maternity rights, sexuality, free movement and sexual orientation as a human right and women with incapacities in situation of conflicts.
The vice president of Aclifim expressed that the forum responds to a strategic action plan approved in a meeting held in Havana last year with the participation of organizations, institutions and authorities related with the ideas promoted in countries of the region.
Aclifim presides the region of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean of tin the Latin American Network of Non-Governmental Organizations of People with Special Needs and their family that defend the right of women with incapacities, said Hidalgo Dominguez.
