HAVANA, Cuba, May 31 (acn) Cuba´s First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel described the relations between his country and Japan as excellent, during the first day of his official visit to the Asian nation.
According to a report of Prensa Latina news agency, Diaz-Canel said Cuba is willing to have more trade with Japan, and to keep the bilateral political dialogue.
The Cuban leader met with Keiji Furuya, who is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship League Japan-Cuba, to review the relations between the two countries, and later toured the Zojoji Buddhist temple.
We have come a long way since 2014 in the political and economic relations and we are looking forward to checking on the progress made in the meetings we will hold with authorities and leaders of organizations that work on the bilateral relations, he said.
Diaz-Canel recalled that Japan was the second most important trade partner of Cuba in the 1970s and 80s, and it could play an important role in Cuba´s current trade dynamics.
