HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 27 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro met on Saturday with former U.S. President Bill Clinton as part of his busy schedule in New York, where he attends high-level forums of the United Nations, Prensa Latina reported.
The leader of the Caribbean island and the former Democrat head of State, occupant of the White House from 1993 to 2001, spoke at a New York hotel on several issues, including aid to Haiti.
Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, met on Friday with the mayor of the Big Apple, Bill de Blasio, and Swedish Prime Minister Kjell Stefan Löfven, meetings held at the headquarters of Cuba’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
The Cuban President, since his arrival in New York on Thursday, has carried out a wide range of activities in the context of the summit on 2015-2030 sustainable development objectives.
A day earlier, the head of state spoke with the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro; and Mozambique Filipe Nyusi; the New York governor, Andrew Cuomo; and U.S. congresspersons.
Earlier on Saturday, he exchanged greetings with the Chinese head of state, Xi Jinping, after their speeches in the second day of the summit.
