HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) Argentina´s President Cristina Fernandez arrived in Cuba on Saturday morning on an official visit during which she will hold talks with President Raul Castro.
During her stay here, Fernandez will attend mass to be officiated on Sunday by Pope Francis, who is already flying to the island for a Pastoral visit.
A communiqué by the Argentinean Foreign Ministry explains that some days ago, the President had accepted an invitation by Raul Castro to attend the mass that the Holy Father will officiate at Havana´s Revolution Square.
This is the fourth visit by President Fernandez to Cuba; her latest visit here was in January 2014 to participate at the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Cuba and Argentina share excellent bilateral relations and important collaboration in the fields of education, health, sports and sciences.
Buenos Aires has always support Cuba in its demand for the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by Washington against the island over the past five decades.
Reciprocally, Cuba backs Argentina´s claim over the Malvinas Islands, a South Atlantic archipelago under British occupation.
