HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 5 (acn) More than 120 academics from Latin America and the Caribbean will meet in Havana for the international meeting “Integration in Latin America and the Caribbean: Historic alternatives and current situation 200 years after Simon Bolivar’s Charter of Jamaica”.
The conference, which will be held on September 7-9 at the Simon Bolivar Center and the Benito Juarez Center, is organized by the Association of Latin American and Caribbean Historians (ADHILAC).
Cuba, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile, Guyana, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Guatemala and Bolivia are among countries that will be represented, along with guest speakers from Spain, U.S.A. and Italy.
Several panels will be devoted to leading figures in the history of the region, such as Francisco de Miranda, Simon Bolivar, Jose Marti, Augusto Cesar Sandino and Ernesto "Che" Guevara.
The program also includes the presentation of the book Los desafios de la integracion en America Latina y el Caribe (The challenges of integration in Latin America and the Caribbean), by researcher Abel Enrique Gonzalez, a photographic and painting exhibition on the Charter Jamaica regarding Bolivar, and a forum with presentations by university students.
