Raul Sends Letter to Cuban Health Workers that Fought Ebola

Raul Sends Letter to Cuban Health Workers that Fought EbolaHAVANA, Cuba, Jul 10 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, sent a letter to the Cuban health workers who fought Ebola in West Africa.

The text, dated July 8, acknowledges "the heroic work done as part of the Henry Reeve International Contingent," and was read during a ceremony held in Havana, in which these physicians were presented with the Carlos J. Finlay Order.
You are continuators of the altruism and selflessness that has characterized the island's medical cooperation, reads the letter, since it began in 1963 with the sending of the first brigade to Algeria under the leadership of then health minister, José Ramón Machado Ventura. During all these years, 158 countries have been able to count on the solidarity of 325,710 Cuban health workers.
Today, continues the text, Cuban medicine is present in 68 countries with more than 50,000 health professionals, a reality that summarizes the genuine values the Revolution has cultivated.
Significant are the results you achieved in the medical attention given to those affected by the Ebola epidemic, with more than 400 lives saved and an overall mortality rate of 24.4%, which shows training achieved and dedication to work, aspects that have been acknowledged by governments themselves and by international organizations.
