HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 17 (acn) Cuba and the European Union concluded the fourth round of talks relevant to the political and cooperation dialog that both parties have been negotiating since April with significant results as to bilateral cooperation, an issued in quite advanced stage.
The talks were held in Brussels June 15 and 16 between the negotiating teams headed by Christian Leffler, executive director for the Americas at the European Foreign Action Service and by Cuban deputy foreign minister Abelardo Moreno, according to a news release published on the webpage of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
The round of talks, which followed the recent 2nd Summit between the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, concluded the substantial negotiation relevant to the part of the agreement concerning commerce, while significant results were reached as to cooperation, a negotiation currently in advanced stage, the release explains.
Both parties shared useful exchange on the chapter relevant to a political dialog, which allowed them to express their positions and aspirations about different elements.
The meetings took place in a constructive and professional atmosphere, on the basis of accorded to by both parties in 2008, including unconditional nature, reciprocal and non-discriminatory character, full respect to the sovereign of the states, to the legal framework and the institutional order of the two sides, as well as full compliance with the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of the states.
The two teams agreed to again meet in September, in Havana, for the fifth round of talks. The representatives of the European Union and Cuba corroborated the willingness of both sides to keep advancing the process towards the conclusion of the negotiations in the shortest possible time.
