HAVANA, Cuba, May 27 (acn) "We come to learn from you," said Salvadoran President Salvador Sanchez on Tuesday after the conclusion of the performance of the work Y sin embargo se mueve (And yet it moves), by the children's theater group La Colmenita.
The visiting head of state and his delegation went to the Hall of Order III, in the Convent of St. Francis of Assisi, home to that the artistic teaching group, to attend the presentation of the piece and enjoy songs the young interpreters especially dedicated to them.
Sanchez thanked the company's boys and girls "for giving them their soul," adding that children's education guarantee the future of a country and that the members of La Colmenita are bearers of a culture based on values.
While referring to his homeland, he noted that there still violence and insecurity and that his government has given his people physical education, and also education in art and culture, through the program Un sueño posible (A Possible Dream); but that they still have to promote all these intentions with a link closer to families in order to preserve values.
He highlighted that education is fundamental for the development of any nation and that the experience of La Colmenita is important, not only for Cuba but also for the world.
Carlos Alberto Cremata, director of La Colmenita, thanked the Central American leader because during the first day of his visit to Cuba he requested to see performances by this company, appointed Goodwill Ambassadors in 2007 by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
He promised to help create a similar initiative in San Salvador and in Quezaltepeque, hometown of the Salvadoran president.
"And yet it moves" is an original work by Russian playwright Alexander Jmelik for children and youngsters, the thesis of which is the search for truth and the defense of people's own criteria, though most think otherwise.
Sanchez arrived in Havana on Tuesday on an official visit, and plans to hold official talks with Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, in addition to visiting places of social interest.
