HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 20 (acn) The Group of Iberian-American Universities La Rabida gave Cuban architect Dayra Gelabert the prize to the most notable work in 2014 in the category of Science and Technology, for her research work Progressive Housing as Alternative Solution to the City of Havana.
In an exclusive interview with ACN, University professor Dania Gonzalez, who was in charge of the tutorship of the research project, details on this innovative proposal, since Gelabert is presently being honored by the International University of Andalusia.
In the case of progressive housing, the State builds the initial stage and then occupants complete it once they start living in them, explained Gonzalez.
The prizewinning project suggests that the building should have hydraulic, electrical and gas installations, as well as the plumbing, but that each family should decorate according to their taste, and that the apartment should have a single area that families would divide according to needs.
This project has awaken the interest of the capital's authorities, which recently contacted the researcher and her tutor to prepare a norm that establishes the quality indexes of progressive housing.
