Havana, March 17 (acn) The most recent talks in Havana between representatives of Cuba and Washington were held closed doors; both sides agreed to keep contacts in the future as part of the process aimed at restablishing diplomatic relations and opening embassies in both capital cities.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the director of bilateral affairs of the United States division at Cuba´s Foreign Ministry reads that the talks focused on specific topics related to the process of reestablishing diplomatic relations.
By the end of the talks, which were held in a professional atmosphere, the two delegations agreed to maintain communication in the future as part of the process, the statement noted.
Meanwhile, a statement by the US State Department explained that the discussion was positive and constructive and was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect focusing on reestablishing diplomatic relations and reopening embassies.
The delegations were headed by Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson and Josefina Vidal, Director General of the U.S. Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, Cuba.
