HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 18 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, praised on Monday the performance of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic(CGR) as it is in line with the country's priorities.
Speaking briefly at the assessment meeting of that State body, corresponding to 2024, he highlighted its performance in the pillars of government management, among these, the digital transformation, as it now ventures into artificial intelligence and that says a lot about how focused it is, he said.
Cuban president said that the Comptroller's Office advances on the basis of training and faithfully fulfills its responsibility with what the country dreams of, proposes and tries to promote, and that says a lot about the work you do in the face of today's challenges, he told officials and auditors of the institution.
Diaz-Canel was accompanied by members of the Political Bureau Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, and Salvador Valdes Mesa, vice president of the country, who in the summary of the meeting described the report presented by Mirian Marban Gonzalez, Comptroller General, as critical and self-critical.
In line with what was expressed by the President, Valdes Mesa emphasized that the CGR has also had among its priorities the government's Program to correct distortions and to re-launch the economy, and the directives aimed at the prevention and confrontation of crime and corruption.
The Vice President of the country mentioned among the priorities of the mentioned organ the prevention and fight against crime and corruption, and as he did in 2024 to follow up in 2035 the liquidation of the State Budget, the tax, investment and banking systems, and the measures aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial system.
He mentioned as significant advances the methodological and investigative work it promotes, the functioning of the State Control Commission, the agility and quality of responses to complaints from the population and the links with the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of the Interior.
Valdes Mesa called on the directors and specialists of the CGR and the National Auditing System to continue implementing strategies for the computerization of processes and controls and institutional communication, and the strengthening of internal control at the base.
