HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 4 (ACN) Two patients, both of Turkish nationality, continue being admitted to the Hermanos Ameijeiras Surgical Clinic Hospital, after the fire that broke out last September 25 in a floating power plant in Havana Bay.
According to Dr. Fernando Trujillo Sanchez, National Director of Hospital Services of the Ministry of Public Health, those affected have 40 % and 21 % of the body surface with injuries and clinical criteria of extreme critical and very serious, respectively.
He referred to the constant attention and follow-up of those hospitalized, by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, according to the conditions they have.
One of the injured in the floating power plant accident, Halil Karardeniz, of Turkish nationality, who remained hospitalized at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Surgical Clinical Hospital, died on Thursday, Cuban authorities reported.
According to Trujillo Sanchez, Karardeniz, 44, was reported as extremely critical, since he had burns of 37% of his body surface, inhalation injury and acute respiratory failure.
On the morning of September 25, a fire occurred in one of the patanas located in Havana Bay, while welding was being carried out, resulting in injuries to 8 workers, informed the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The fire was immediately controlled and did not affect electricity generation.
