HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) The Cuban Ministry of Education (MINED) is still implementing the Third Improvement Process of the National Education System in order to upgrade the qualification of the new generations.
According to Minister of Education Naima Trujillo Barreto, the methodology designed for the oncoming school year, which starts on September 2, goes far beyond the updating of textbooks to promote the quality of teaching.
“This approach,” she remarked, “entails additional challenges in terms of establishing the systematic evaluation of results and the necessary control and feedback from schools and students, since it is not only about teaching or designing a subject, but also finding the impact of learning on today’s Cuba and make the most of what goes on in our educational institutions beyond the classrooms.”
She added that his goal relies on strategies such as the strengthening of political-ideological work, especially aimed at cultural decolonization and social transformation, which is in line with the Policy for the Integral Care of Children, Adolescents and Youths.
“We hope this will make our education more sustainable and provide our students with tools to learn about their surrounding environment for the sake of their personal fulfillment through an extra dose of creativity, innovation and systematization in controlling the quality of our system,” she added.
As the entity in charge of organizing and managing the education system in Cuba, MINED is empowered to approve the country and has among its powers to approve study plans and advise, supervise and systematically control the quality of the teaching process, as well as training provided by Higher Pedagogical Institutions.
