A report posted on Cubasi.com, cites information published on the webpage of the Cuban Journalists Association reading that ETECSA Telecommunications Company will be offering the services for the first time.
Users that purchase the wi-fi services will be able to upload and download files first at one-megabyte-per-second speed and at a cost of 4.50 convertible pesos (similar to dollars) the hour.
According to the information, the services will cover the Ferreiro park in Santiago de Cuba, where users will use the Internet on tablets, cell phones and laptops.
At present, Cubans access the Internet through PC rooms by paying 4.50 convertible pesos per hour, a price considered too high for most people.
In late December, ETECSA announced the expansion of Internet Access in 2015 at those internet rooms, which total 154 in the country, as well as the setting up of wi-fi services.
