HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 9 (ACN) Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic Ocean in October was above-average, taking into account the number of these tropical weather events registered between 1851 and 2020.
In the area of the tropical Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, there were three tropical cyclones during that month, albeit only one became a hurricane—Julia, according to the latest bulleting of the Climate Monitoring Center.
Since the beginning of hurricane season in June last year, 12 tropical storms and 2 depressions developed, and we had five hurricanes—Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Ian and Julia—although none reached category five.
The Forecast Center of the Cuban Institute of Meteorology described as active the current hurricane season in the aforesaid area.
