HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 20 (ACN) The National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers of Cuba (UNAICC) congratulated their colleagues for celebrating today the Pan American Engineer's Day.
Cubans congratulated the members of the Pan-American Union of Associations of Engineers (UPADI by its Spanish acronym), which includes all specialties in societies, colleges and institutes of the continent, with the aim of strengthening its role in the social work of the area and achieve an effective link between all countries.
UPADI's headquarters were established in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the international board of directors was made up of delegates from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, the United States and Honduras.
This association holds congresses and round tables on energy, ocean engineering, environmental, economic and cost engineering, housing, road structures and transportation, education, information technology, development, protection and disaster control, soil mechanics and structural engineering.
It also awards the Vector de Oro Pan American Engineering Education Award.
UPADI was created on July 20, 1949 and currently brings together more than one and a half million professionals in the sector.
Cuba was among the founding nations along with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, United States (as observer), Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela, and was designated to organize its first Convention.
