HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 3 (acn) Cuban deputy foreign minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez is paying a working visit to Angola to further strengthen bilateral political, diplomatic and cooperation relations.
In statements to PL news agency in Luanda, the Cuban official said that her agenda includes a look at the pace of bilateral relations after the visit by Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to Havana last July, which she described as excellent since it proved the high level of bilateral links.
Gonzalez recalled that Cuba and Angola have shared strong friendship and solidarity relations for many years and that Cuba supported the independence struggle in the Southern African Cone, in which Angola played a crucial role.
The current visit to Angola by the Cuban official will also consider new projects and will reaffirm the political will of Luanda and Havana to keep advancing and diversifying bilateral exchange in all possible fields.
Ana Teresita Gonzalez was welcomed at Luanda's international airport by the director of the Latin America Department of the Angolan Foreign Ministry, Francisco Jose da Cruz and by Cuban ambassador Gisela Garcia.
Gonzalez will also meet on Wednesday by Angola's foreign minister Georges Chilkoty and she is also scheduled to hold a working meeting with the vice-president of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) Roberto de Almeida and with the organization's foreign secretary Afonso Van-Dunem.
