HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN) The meeting of Bilateral Political Consultations between Cuba and Argentina was held online Thursday, which showed the willingness of both countries to strengthen the already existing ties in the economic and trade areas, education, culture and cooperation.
The meeting was headed by Marcelino Medina, first deputy minister of the Cuban ministry of foreign affairs (Minrex by its Spanish acronym), and Pablo Tettamanti, secretary for international relations of the Argentine ministry of foreign affairs and worship.
During the meeting both sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations and noted the positive links between the two countries, as well as the existence of common views on the challenges facing the region.
Both nations reiterated the willingness to work together in the search for Latin American unity and integration, according to a note published on the official website of Minrex.
Medina acknowledged Argentina's historical and sustained support in different multilateral forums in the struggle to end the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
For his part, Tettamanti thanked Cuba for its support for Argentina's legitimate claim to sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands and their surrounding seas.
Jorge Mayo Fernandez, director of South America; Mirtha Granda Averhoff, director of Multilateral Political Affairs; and the Cuban ambassador to Buenos Aires, Pedro Pablo Prada, also participated in the meeting on the Cuban side.
Juan Valle Relaigh, undersecretary of Latin American Affairs; Gustavo Terrera, director a.i. of the Central America, Mexico and Caribbean Directorate; Enrique Vaca Narvaja, director of Latin American Economic Integration; Ricardo Bocalandro, director of Latin American Economic Integration; and Javier Figueroa, Argentine ambassador to Havana, were present on the Argentine side.
