HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 27 (ACN) Salvador Valdes Mesa, Cuban vice president, began today at the University of Languages in Baku, Azerbaijan, his work agenda in that Asian country, whose main activity will be the Summit of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in response to the COVID-19.
As reported by the leader on Twitter, in that higher education center of the Azerbaijani capital he participated in fraternal meetings with its rector, and with students, professors, representatives of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba.
After 2:00 a.m. today, the Cuban delegation arrived in Baku, which also included the minister of public health, Jose Angel Portal Miranda; the deputy minister of foreign affairs, Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo; Havana's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Carlos Valdes de la Concepcion, among other directors and officials from the foreign ministry.
On the same social media, Rodriguez Camejo said that upon his arrival, the Cuban vice president mentioned among the objectives of his visit, to share experiences and reaffirm the willingness of his country to work jointly and in solidarity from the NAM and the pro tempore presidency of the G-77 + China, in defense of the legitimate interests of the nations of the South.
Previously, in transit through Istanbul, Türkiye, Valdes Mesa exchanged by videoconference with members of the Cuban medical brigade that provides solidarity aid in that country after the devastating earthquakes earlier this month.
