HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 30 (ACN) The Belgian solidarity project "Cuba Soberana" will soon send medical donations to Cuba, the Cuban foreign ministry's website Cubaminrex reported today.
According to Reinaldo Romero, founder of this program, the love for Cuba and the commitment to help its people in difficult times are what have motivated this cooperation.
In statements to Prensa Latina, quoted by Cubaminrex, the Cuban resident in Belgium insisted that this is a work of love, in which associations from the European country also participate, among them Cubanismo.be and the Friends of Cuba.
Both associations are known for their solidarity and their condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for almost six decades.
Cuba Soberana made two solidarity shipments last July, and is now preparing for a third container with equipment and supplies for the health sector, such as hospital furniture, wheelchairs, bathtubs for the elderly, 120,000 sanitary masks, surgical gloves and medicines.
The cargo has been in Rotterdam since Sunday, and is expected to sail in mid-December, destined for the western province of Pinar del Rio.
