Pediatric Hospital in central Cuba resumes its services

CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Nov 11 (ACN) The Eduardo Agramonte Piña Pediatric Hospital of this city is gradually reopening its usual services, in view of the drop in the number of COVID-19 cases and the inception of the New Normal in the province of Camagüey.

“We reduced the number of premises used for those infected with COVID-19 during the peak of the epidemic in our province,” hospital director Leonardo Ramirez Rodriguez remarked. “This makes it possible to have more beds available for other kinds of patients, although we still have a number of them ready for any infected person admitted in our hospital.”

Outpatient consultations were resumed this week after the lockdown, and the surgery services will be gradually increased depending on the availability of medical supplies and the epidemic situation.

The doctor highlighted the hospital’s hard work as COVID-19 gained ground in the province, including steps to tailor a large part of the building to the treatment of infected children and teenagers and open two emergency wards, one for COVID-19 cases and the other for the rest of the patients.

Established 53 years ago, this hospital provides its services to the entire pediatric population in the province of Camagüey and, in some cases, to those from nearby regions.
