Cuban Minister Thankful to Mexico for Recovery of Historic Cultural Compound

Havana, Oct 18 (ACN) Cuban culture minister Alpidio Alonso extended his gratitude to Mexican authorities for the rescue of the museum and sculpture in the Veracruz locality of Tuxpan honoring the sea expedition led by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro.

“We’ve come to Tuxpan to pay honor to Fidel and his compatriots,” said the Cuban government official who travelled to Mexico on the occasion of the 49th Cervantino International Festival, underway till October 31st in the city of Guanajuato and which had Cuba as guest country.

Minister Alonso thanked Tuxpan historian for the recovery of the museum and said: “we must now take care of this sacred site of our two peoples.”

The Cuban minister’s visit to Mexico helped strengthen historic friendly links between Tuxpan and Havana and to also recall the departure of the Granma Yacht to Cuba in 1956 with 82 revolutionaries on board to free Cuba from the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship
