HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 13 (ACN) Maria Elena Soto, head of the primary health care department of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym), explained today that although the priority of the current vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is schoolchildren, with a view to the return to the classroom, adolescents who are not involved in the teaching process will also be immunized.
Speaking at the daily press conference on the epidemiological situation of the country, the specialist affirmed that the vaccination process in pediatric ages is going well and recalled that during this month, those allergic to thiomersal will be vaccinated.
She specified that adolescents and children who are not in their province should contact the nearest health area to be included in the lists.
If an infant is diagnosed with the disease and has already received at least one dose of vaccine, he/she becomes convalescent, said Soto, who stressed that he/she then has to wait two months to receive the Soberana Plus vaccine, just like adults.
During the conference, it was learned that 63.6 % of the Cuban population already has at least one dose of the Cuban anti-COVID-19 vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala, and that 39.1 % have all three doses.
