Over 90% of the grid back on its feet after Hurricane Ida

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 1 (ACN) As a result of the efforts to restore the grid after Hurricane Ida, over 90% of the 12,408 affected customers in the provinces of Pinar del Río and Artemisa and in the special municipality of the Isle of Youth are already receiving electricity.

So it was reported to the press by authorities of the Electric Union (UNE), who gave the aforesaid figure and remarked—regarding power generation at national level—that a number of power plants in Havana and other cities across Cuba were either out of service or subject to maintenance works.

UNE managers pointed out that the power outages will continue, and their extent will depend on the status of the National Grid, although work is under way without interruption to affect the population as little as possible.
